The CO-VALUE project has entered a key phase with the launch of its experimentation activities under Work Package 4, designed to bring citizen engagement into real-world research and innovation. Taking place throughout 2025 in parallel across Alicante (Spain) and Emilia-Romagna (Italy), these experiments aim to translate months of preparatory work into tangible impact.

In Alicante, the pilot is led by the Alicante Science Park with support from Stickydot and Impulsa Alicante, embedding experimentation within the local innovation ecosystem. Seven selected innovation projects—focused on circular economy and new technologies—are working closely with citizens to co-develop products and solutions. Participating companies have already acknowledged the added value of this approach, noting better alignment with societal needs and increased public acceptance.

Meanwhile, in the context of Emilia-Romagna innovation ecosystem, two regional experimentations will be implemented by Bassetti Foundation and ART-ER. The pilots will be integrated in two innovation projects. One explores urban air mobility for people and goods, while the other designs and develops wearable-based healthcare monitoring solutions for chronic patients, in close collaboration with end-users and citizens.

All these pilots in CO-VALUE will serve as testbeds for EU-wide learning. Results will contribute to policy recommendations and will potentially represent best practices to be included in the EU Knowledge Valorisation Platform.
